Our flight leaves Managua, Nicaragua for Atlanta, Georgia at 8:30 am. La Virgen is two hours las las vegas from the airport, so Eric and I decided to spend our last night at Best Western Las Mercedes Hotel, just across from the airport.

1. Airport Transfers

We have made arrangements to hire two mini-vans for the week of the conference and will be using them for airport transfers. If you have provided us with your flight information you will be met at the airport (after you leave the baggage claim area) by someone from one of our Madrid churches (either Angel, Victor, or Josh). They will be holding a sign with the Church Leaders Conference 2011 logo on it.

4. Payment of Conference Fees

Payment of conference fees must be made to us in cash, in either euro or the US dollar equivalent. If you wish to use a credit card for payment, you will need to use the online payment system on the conference website. ( www.clc2011.blogspot.com ) We will be making one payment to the hotel for the entire conference, including the pre-conference and post-conference times.

5. Internet at the Hotel

The hotel has free WiFi available on the ground floor and several of the lower floors. Upper floors have Internet available, but only through a wired Ethernet connection. The hotel reception has a few Ethernet cables available to borrow, but you may find it more convenient to bring along a cable of your own.

6. Time Differences

Madrid is in the Central European time zone, which is six hours ahead of the Eastern time zone in the United States.

7. Electricity

For those coming to the conference from the United States it is important to note that Europe uses a 220 volt electrical system. Most of your small appliances and electronics will NOT work without a transformer and/or a prong adapter. Please check to see that any electronic device that you bring is rated for 110-220 volts. We will have a few prong adapters available at the conference in case you need one, at a cost of 2 euros each. We will NOT have transformers available.

8. Weather

According to the 10-day forecast for Fuenlabrada, Spain the weather should be quite pleasant during the conference. Each day will be partly cloudy. Nighttime lows will be about 6°C (42°F) and daytime highs will range from 14°C to 18°C (58°F to 64°F).

9. Optional Excursion to Toledo, Spain

On Monday, November 14 we will have the opportunity to take a bus excursion to visit the historic city of Toledo, Spain. The cost of this excursion is NOT included in the conference fees. If you are interested in participating in the excursion you must sign up and pay in advance. The cost of the bus will be 12 euros per person, round trip.

CLC 2011 Quick Facts

1. What is CLC 2011? - CLC 2011 is a Church Leaders Conference sponsored by the Free Methodist Church in Europe for pastors and key leaders of local Free Methodist congregations and for other church leaders that are interested in learning more about the Free Methodist Church.

2. Where will it be held? - CLC 2011 will be held at Hotel Las Provincias, Fuenlabrada, Madrid, Spain. This is a southern suburb of Madrid that is located on one of the metro lines, so has easy access to the city center.

3. When will it be held? - CLC 2011 begins with the evening meal on Friday, November 11 and continues through breakfast on Tuesday, November 15. Plan on arriving at the hotel no later than 17:00 on November 11. Plan your departure for any time on November 15.

4. How much does it cost? - The registration fee for CLC 2011 is €150 per person, which includes four night's accommodation and all meals during the conference. Payment will be accepted in other currencies at the exchange rate of the day.

5. Is financial assistance available? - The conference registration fee already reflects a substantial subsidy, so no further discounts are available. Funds to assist with travel expenses may be available. Please contact your country leader for more information.

6. What is the registration deadline? - Please register for CLC 201 as soon as possible, but no later than Monday, October 31.

7. How do I register? - You can register for CLC 2011 either by submitting the online registration form (see link, above) or by sending the registration information to fmc.europe@gmail.com. In either case you will receive a confirmation e-mail in return.

8. What if I need to arrive early or stay longer? We can make reservations on your behalf at the conference hotel at our actual cost (which is a discounted group rate). It will be your responsibility to pay for this. Otherwise, you are free to make your own reservations anywhere you'd like in Madrid and transfer to (or from) the conference hotel at the appropriate time.

9. What about transfers to and from the airport? If you arrive on Friday, November 13 before 4:00 p.m. we will make arrangements for group transfers to the conference hotel. If you depart on Tuesday, November 17 we will also arrange for airport transfers. Outside of these two times you will be responsible for your own transportation. Information about ground transfers will be posted soon.
